Paperbox Studios has launched the first major expansion for their deckbuilding roguelike Dice of Calma. Called Pick Your Poison, it adds epic meta progression and new gameplay systems to Dice of Calma on multiple platforms.
The game was launched on mobile in November 2025. Within three months the game has reached a big milestone. It has been downloaded more than 100,000 times on the App Store alone.
Set in the underworld, this game challenges you to face Kalma, the Finnish god of death. Each race revolves around rolling and re-rolling the dice, locking favorable outcomes, and creating synergistic decks from the pool of skulls.
So, what does Pick Your Poison bring to Dice of Calma?
Pick Your Poison introduces an epic new meta-progression framework that reshapes the way you race again and again. Instead of simply restarting, you can now unlock specific challenges that test mastery and change the flow of future attempts.
This update also expands the in-game arsenal with additional skulls. They open up new combinations and strategic paths that aim to beat the strategy
Death itself. With over 200 unique skulls already available, the new options further deepen the theory-building aspect.
Pick Your Poison also adds a new set of achievements to Dice of Calma. Deciding when to protect a roll, when to risk a reroll, and when to move forward despite uncertainty remains central to the design.
On the mobile version of Dice of Calma, the Pick Your Poison update also brings the Supporter Pack. They add a cosmetic flourish in the form of a stylish crown to the Kalama.
