Games have emerged as a major entry point among young fans across the US and UK.
According to a new study from SuperAwesome, 86% of children and teens ages 4 to 18 have joined a fan group, with gaming consistently serving as both the first point of discovery and the strongest driver of long-term loyalty.
Titles like Fortnite, Roblox and Minecraft are ranked among the top fans.
The study also describes the age of eight as a “golden age of discovery”, when children transition from early childhood to pre-teen fans. Games are often searched for before movies, TV, or creators.

Creators also play a central role in retaining gaming fans. About 48% of people under 18 say creators help them stay engaged, with that number rising to nearly 60% among younger kids.
The report also found that churn is highest between the ages of four and nine, with 38% of seven to nine year olds leaving a fan group. However many younger fans later re-enter through new releases, crossovers, or nostalgia-driven content.
Commercially, audiences are already valuable. 81% of respondents spent money on fans in the last three months, with almost 28% of them spending £100 or more.
