Tencent is reportedly in talks to acquire a minority stake in Block Blast! Developer Hungry Studios.

As reported bloombergDiscussions have been going on for several months and the investment may be announced soon, although no final decision has been taken.

Hungry Studios, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Hong Kong, recently revealed that Block Blast! Reach 70 million daily active users and 300 million monthly active users by the end of 2025.

The company said the title is currently live in over 200 countries and territories, ranking number one in the puzzle category in over 40 markets.

strategic moves

Shenzhen-based Tencent has a long history of strategic minority investments in the games sector, including stakes in Riot Games, Shift Up and the studios behind major global franchises, further strengthening its influence on mobile and PC.

However, the company recently closed its TiMi Montreal studio without releasing any games, less than five years after its founding.
