The thar hammer is behind the door with the missing knob in the murder basement. Before you can find the hammer, you have to find the doorknob.

A doorknob rests on a small table in a room filled with TVs. You will need to use the screwdriver, which is found in the first room of the basement, where you see the head and the writing on the wall.
Use the screwdriver to remove the vent cover, and make your way through the basement, and through the mortuary until you find the TV room.
The door knob should be on the table, under a painting and next to a vase of flowers. Nice to know that the serial killer is decorating the place to keep it fresh.

Once you have the door handle, you can open the exit door on the other side to return to the starting room. Once there, go to the room with the screaming man and the cell. Go down the next corridor and find a door without a doorknob. Turn the doorknob and open the door.
